MAGISA is one of the few companies able to manage their entire production phase, from planting to packaging. We have all the tools and machineries, to ensure the quality of the agricultural phase to the industrial, so that giving you the privilege of an entirely controlled product. From the transformation and packing our rice, we control the product from the field to the warehouse, to ensure quality and taste in every grain.

 

The Production

The phase of the rice production requires a careful selection of raw materials and a particolar processing. In order to achieve high quality rice, the stage of production of the rice is very important in every aspect; from the technologies used to the professional quality of the raw materials used. If you keep in mind about how the rice seized from the plant is not edible, then it is easily understandable the importance of the production phase and rice processing in order to offer the consumers a nutritious and good food.
Since the rice grain is surrounded by a series of layers, it is a must to perform two main operations: peeling and bleaching. The advantage of our machinaries is that the rice is worked at low speed so as not to undergo excessive losses of precious nutrinal substances for our body requirements. After the husking step and three steps of bleaching, the rise is optically sorted and finally packaged, which is predominantly vacuumed. We want to point out the highlights in our rice such as the absence of preservatives, the incomplete bleaching to maintain as much as possible unchanged its properties and especially the non-polishing of the grain. All phases of production are subject to strict controls by trained personnel.

The sowing takes place in the month of May, the fields are flooded with water to a level that does not exceed 2 cm of a seed bed with a slope equal to 0. The flood is made with pure water and always running. Also, hand-selected seeds from the harvest of the previous year are used for the sowing.
It is important to emphasize that on the organic variety, weed killers are not used in all stages of production.
The picking takes place between September and November. We await that the rice is at an optimal age and only collect the 16 to 18 % moisture, with rice grains fully developed and ripe; in so doing we allow the rice to dry and ripen in the fields to obatin full flavor.
After harvesting, the rice is transferred in driers to remove moisture and prepare it for the processing.
Storage of Rice is then stored without the use of any preservatives or pesticide. The product is stored in a refrigerated environment at a temperatures below 8 °C, to prevent the occurrence of possible natural infestations.

 

 

The Ecosystem

The intensity of the sun and mild temperatures allow the rice ear to achieve a complete maturation. The proximity to the sea allows, thanks to the sea salt, to create a special microclimate for the cultivation of rice. These factors combined with the purity of the water floods making the land very fertile and the winds overlooking growing areas, help to achieve an excellent quality of rice. Furthermore, the climate does not allow for growth of fungal diseases and this allows the rice ears of reach maturity without the need of fungicidal treatments.
Even the seeds, for the most part self-produced, have a high germination power because they reach their full maturity and are free from fungal diseases. Furthermore, the use of crop rotations, significantly lowers the infestations of weeds and this allows to minimize the use of herbicides.
In short, the environment together with the seventy years-experience gained in the Piana in rice cultivation, provide crops with healthy whole grains and of high nutritional value.

The Processing

The processing of rice products are obtained with modern technology that respect the natural processes that allow us to offer consumers an excellent quality of rice. The modernity of our systems well combines the latest technology with traditional craft working particularly suited for typical Italian fine rice, paying particular attention to the final selection of rice through optical sorters and separators of the lastest generation, able to select define with great precision the grains of rice that are perfect and imperfect.
